- The clinical use of NSAIDs (Nonsteroid anti inflammatory drugs): Recent clinical studies indicate that naproxen sodium, ibuprofen could lower the indicidence of developing Alzheimer's disease. There is a clinical evidence that inflammation may be part of the disease mechanism. More clinical data is needed.
- The clinical use of SERMs ( Selective estrogen receptor modulators): As an effective osteoporosis drug; Evista (raloxifene) shown that it may be effective in reducing the risk of mild cognitive impairment which usually leads Alzheimer's disease.
- Ginkgo biloba: It has a wide clinical acceptance to improve cognitive abilities. There is still ongoing clinical trails to evaluate its efficacy on preventing the Alzheimer's disease.
- Vitamin E: Although the use of vitamin E for preventing Alzheimer's disease is a controversial issue, there is no risk for trying it
